The Full Moon is a time to see, to discover. There is the potential for that which is hidden, mechanical and unconscious within us to be brought into the light of consciousness. Every FM is therefore an opportunity for us to become more authentically ourselves by regaining, inch by inch, the power of our decisions. A power that has been largely taken from us by an intricate and mighty systematic conditioning based on punishment and reward, which we have been born into. Self-pity and resentment are simply extensions of this conditioning; so the only way to get our own power back is to take full responsibility for who we are, with acceptance and confidence in our ability to change.
This Full Moon in Cancer is very paradoxical, but that does not mean that it is in conflict with itself. Introducing the colder months of the year it is known as the Cold Moon, and also the 'Moon before Yule'. In this last nickname we can see that somehow Yule, the return of the light, seems to be 'made late' by this FM. The Moon will reign over the night sky for longer. So everything points to the “dark night of the soul” in which one goes deep into oneself, even at the cost of facing anxiety and a sense of being lost.
Cancer is the sign of “Home”, of how the systematic conditioning was made palatable to our little minds by those who, not knowing any better, formed us according to the human mould; a bit like factory workers creating robots. It is also, however, the sign of nurturing and healing, of forgiveness and acceptance. This ultra-feminine Full Moon invites us to take stock of ourselves: what have we inherited that works for us, and what of it doesn't? The 'retarding' of the return of the light can be seen as an opportunity to go deeper, for longer, and therefore “get more done”, pull the bow-string further back so as to fly further away from our comfort zones when we decide to let go.
Chiron in Aries, squaring the FM, however tells us to stay clear of self-recrimination (resentment turned inwards = depression) and living in a future 'better me'. We are wounded and there is no beauty in driving the knife deeper. Give yourself some love. Chiron brings us to the Heart, to the warm core of our being, and to take good care of ourselves and those we love.
There is also another square aspect, this time between Neptune in Pisces and Venus in Sagittarius. This is tricky because Neptune is never happy in a square and might flare up Venus' negative qualities as well. There is the chance of feeling negative about ourselves, feeling unloveable, indulging in self-torture and self-hate; habits and addictions, and the mirror of self-reflection. Avoiding watching movies 'just for entertainment' and observing the content of our imagination is a good idea, because there is an opening for some dark stuff coming out, both as regards our self-image and the image we have of others.
On the other hand, with alertness and attention, we can go beyond all images, whether it is the ones we hold about ourselves, or those through which we “relate (not)” to others.
As Eckhart Tolle reminds us in A New Earth, self-esteem and humility (truth beyond the 'mask') are one and the same thing.
Uranus (retrograde) is in a Trine aspect with the Sun in Capricorn. The trine is known as a harmonious aspect. In musical terms if the first note and the third note of a scale are played together, you have what is called harmony. Harmony is beautiful and structured with clear rules, and therefore very happy in the presence of Capricorn's ruler, Saturn. Powered by a retrograde Uranus, however, this trine can and will yield surprises, a revolution of method and structure both on the individual and societal level. There is a desire to express one's uniqueness, a potential for deep and lasting insight, and of consciously drifting away from one's comfort zone.
Uranus is also in Sextile aspect to the Moon. It is here a very powerful motivator for acting in a focused and clear way to break out of the familial conditioning. It is offering a boost to personal revolution based on what we discover in our inner explorations.
Speaking of revolution. Two very powerful gods have marched out of Capricorn into Aquarius. A fitting end for a karmic year like 2020. Saturn and Jupiter have opposing characteristics that if consciously balanced offer a structured and sustainable path to growth and joie de vivre.
Finally, to conclude,
This Full Moon is a time to heal, to be receptive and trusting in the fact that life wants to happen. Taking a quick but attentive look at what has been achieved in this much vilified year will help us stay clear of the self-pitying condemnation of 2020 by a world that hasn't understood a thing. For those of us who have done their best to become more authentic, 2020 was a difficult but golden year. So, one is allowed to ask: In what ways have we become more open to the commands of the spirit? The cult of results is not what we are after, but sometimes it's ok to be human, sit back, and appreciate your blessings. This is also true because of the undeniable fact that the time to share and make these blessings matter is now upon us.

In the Osho Zen tarot cards we find this wonderful card that matches the vibrations of this period. It harmonizes with the text above; 'A time to heal', a time to 'drop our masks' and 'realize the truth', our oneness with all surroundings.
“This naked figure sits on the lotus leaf of perfection, gazing at the beauty of the night sky. She knows that "home" is not a physical place in the outside world, but an inner quality of relaxation and acceptance. The stars, the rocks, the trees, the flowers, fish and birds - all are our brothers and sisters in this dance of life. We human beings tend to forget this, as we pursue our own private agendas and believe we must fight to get what we need. But ultimately, our sense of separateness is just an illusion, manufactured by the narrow preoccupations of the mind.”

"Humanity is depicted here as a rainbow of beings, dancing around the mandala of the earth with their hands joined together in joy and gratitude for the gift of life. This card represents a time of communication, of sharing the riches that each of us brings to the whole. There is no clinging here, no grasping. It is a circle without fear of feelings of inferiority and superiority.
When we recognize the common source of our humanity, the common origins of our dreams and longings, our hopes and fears, we are able to see that we are all joined together in the great miracle of existence. When we can combine our tremendous inner wealth to create a treasure of love and wisdom that is available to all, we are linked together in the exquisite pattern of eternal creation."
In the Marseille tarot cards we have the wheel of fortune taking hold of the number 10, and the magician occupying the number 1. Another card in the Osho Zen tarot cards is Harmony for the number 10.
